With less than a week of October left, I have decided to post all of my November happenings below, because it’s getting to that time of year where daylight savings time will strip away my will to live, and your kinship is required to survive, so if you are around and want to join, please let me know! Share this newsletter with your friends and others so we can all link up!

RMCM — Webster Hall
On Saturday, we went to Webster Hall to see Richy Mitch and the Coal Miners, a band we discovered when we were living in New York in 2021! We actually saw one of their first tour concerts ever at a small local theater in Frankfurt, MI; they went on to play Lollapalooza the next day. The concert was really great, they sounded much more put together with the drums (they didn’t have those last time), and the crowd was very chill. If you get a chance to see these guys, I would recommend it.
The Post
Diner club convened, and we grabbed brunch with friends (Rami, Olivia, Matthew, and Meghan) at the Post. The huevos rancheros were solid, but the probiotic hot sauce that came with was really the kicker. I also had a maple butter biscuit because I had 3 cups of coffee and was shaking by the time we left. After we headed out, we visited the B6 Botanical Garden (IYKYK) and then hopped in a cab up to Matt’s on the UWS, where we let our food digest and then took a leisurely walk around Central Park.
Bisou’s Off the Leash
The past few weeks we have been working with Bisou off-leash in the Park and turns out we were wrong the whole time, he is actually quite good off-leash, well, when it comes to his behavior he is pretty good, in terms of his listening skills, they are still sub-par, but the combination of his burning love for Sabrina and the treats she provides him when his name is called, he does listen at about a 70% success rate. It is nice to let him off-leash and roam around wherever he pleases.
Miscellaneous Taste
We have all the basics in the apartment, but now it’s time to add the little details that really make the place feel like home. Here are some products I have either recently purchased, have in my cart, or intend on thrifting.
I bought this Stainless Steel Industrial Kitchen Shelf with Hangers on Prime Day after wanting it for months and it was so worth it! ~ $70
I have been eying some posters for the office / guest room, I really like this Japanese 90’s Y2k Poster on ebay. ~ $20 (size dependent)
With all the Friends we have been watching Sabrina and I have been inspired by Monica’s kitchen, 90’s clutter kitchen core is pulling us in, so we intend to thrift a vintage white Mr. Coffee from a Salvation Army or comparable thrift store. ~ $12
Sabrina’s uncle is a great photographer out of Detroit (he will actually be in town this weekend) we plan to buy and paint some frames and get some prints of his photographs to hang around the apartment. ~10 each
Thanks for reading!
There will be no supplemental essay this week, but never fear, there are more in the works; they just are not quite ready for editing.
If you missed them or are interested in reading any of the other essays published over this past month, please take a look at them below!
The Purpose Trap
The guidance office smelled like dry-erase marker, stale Folgers, and carpet shampoo. Mrs. Parsons slid a worksheet across the desk, INTERESTS → CAREERS, in a diagram that resembled a bingo card. “Purpose,” she said, tapping the empty box at the bottom. From outside her office, I heard the janitor’s radio playing an ad for a regional tax company. I chec…
Learning to Want Something
The cardboard box labeled “CLOTHES” sat in the driveway next to a duffel bag that smelled a hint of mildew, like the basement. Summer heat radiated off the asphalt on the recently paved driveway. I was loading my mom’s 2007 Lincoln MKX, borrowing it, since my ‘90-something Cadillac Seville couldn’t be trusted to make it to New York.
Practice, Not Purity
The diploma arrived in a cardboard tube two weeks after commencement; if it weren’t for the recent events, I would have assumed it was some sort of poster. I opened it on the kitchen table while my roommates ate eggs over rice and played beer pong. Inside: expensive paper, embossed seal, Latin phrases. Outside the window, a teammate was loading his room…
