wine and bread obviously
zero thought all vibes; sharing taste one newsletter at a time
In this newsletter we cover carbs (pizza & bread), tomato can lights, deals, and wine bar with friends!
Nates vs Jets
Last friday we went over to our new friends Allison and Kyle’s (Loki’s parents) house for some wine and pizza… between the 5 of us we finished 4 bottles of wine which was not an expectation going into the night, but it was a great experience nonetheless. while there we had a nathan’s vs. jet’s pizza tasteoff… is tasteoff a thing? and it was a 3-2 win for jet’s… that being said this was a biased tasteoff because the jet’s pizza had toppings and nathan’s was margarita. nathan’s is deep dish in park slope and for no toppings it was still incredibly good. I would go out of my way to get nathan’s.
DIY Light Fixtures
We had the ugliest 2000’s suburbs glass light fixtures with that were coated in oil and dust. I hated everything about them, but new fixtures were going to be expensive. Sabring showed me a Warhol soup can table light and I began to think wait, what if we did that to our lights, then I immediately thought of the bianco cans in bale blue, yellow and red and I knew I had to attempt it. After $20 of tomatoes and $15 drill bit I made some new lights and I really like them. The inside tin is sort of stained red which gives them an even more amber hue in the evening which is a really great vibe for cooking pasta, sipping wine, lighting candles, and eating sourdough with nice olive oil.
TooGoodToGo order from Dual Market
I am a fein for a deal so naturally i spend some time on apps that offer deals… think poshmark, depop, toogoodtogo… toogoodtogo is an app where restaurants and businesses give steep discounts on products they are having trouble to sell, products that are going expired, or products they just want you to try out and come back for. dual market is a local natural foods market with amazing products and i enjoy getting their too good to go bags… this weeks was $6.99 and I got some sesame oil, a bag of rice, some refrigerated pre-made falafel, 2 sauces and a few more little things. i have done a bag from there before and sabrina has gotten stuff from bakeries around as well, it is like a blind box but it is a good deal!
Fort Tryon Park for Kalli’s birthday
On Saturday we got more pizza when we headed up to Fort Tryon Park for Kalli’s birthday party which was greek themed, and a splendid time. Fort Tryon is beautiful and a nice change of scenery from Brooklyn, more hills, large trees, and great views of the hudson river.
Chloes
After pizza we sent to Chloes on Bleeker to grab some vegan food and, the salad was great, but the pesto mac and cheese was the winner. Honestly, it was solid, I would consider going back the vibes really made the experience, the food was solid… I really should have tried some of their drinks
Vinyl Collection Debut
I started collecting vinyls my sophomore year of college, before I even had a record player, and I am going to showcase some of my favorites here. First of is probably my most played vinyl: Khruagbin the White Glove album. It’s a major vibe, great for chill nights and background music… it sets a good mood :)
Sourdough
Sabrina bought sourdough starter back from Michigan so we have been making sourdough, we have one loaf in the fridge right now as we wait for it to get larger… we have been learning a lot, sourdough can be temperamental, but good fresh bread is good fresh bread. I am excited to make soups and dunk fresh bread in them!
rodeo wine bar
The coolest bar nearby, intimidatingly cool, everyone has confidence and tattoos and earrings and wears the coolest clothes. Our friend Dylan is in town so we brought him and met up with a few of our friends so we had power in numbers and it was great time. The wine is solid, but a bit expensive, the vibes are chill and casual despite how cool everyone sees… chalant I guess.
